  This Ryburn, perhaps named after the River Rye in North Yorkshire, was fined by the Abbot of Byland and relinquished all claims to an Alder Wood at Scackleton, North Yorkshire.

John Ryburn's Acquittal  He didn't do it!  The dreadfull deed was committed by Alexander Cunningham of Aiket.

Johne Ryburne's Murder in 1571  To no avail, it seems, they got him in the end.

His likely son involved in a blood-feud murder in 1586  'John Reyburne of that Ilk' was at the murder of the 4th Earl of Eglinton - the infamous 'Murder at Annick Ford'.

Johne Ryburne was involved in a 1589 arbitration court case in Renfrew, Glasgow.

Johne Ryburne Outlawed in 1603   This John Ryburn was accused of adultery and child murder - probably falsely.

A James Ryburn was living in Poland or Lithuania in 1651.

The 'John Ryburn' Lifeboat  This was stationed at Stronsay, Orkney Islands, 1909-1915, and at Peterhead, NE Scotland, 1915-1921.  John was the Grenada trader.

S.S. Ryburn  In 1926 the British steamer "Ryburn" was reported in Hansard as overdue and with no wireless operator on a voyage from Rotterdam to Pennsylvania.

Jim & Muriel Adam, Edingburgh.  The inscription is almost illegible, but reads "1817, Erected by William Ryburn, tenant Drumlemble, in memory of his father William Ryburn, Drumlemble, late tenant there, who died 3rd March 1815, aged 64 yrs.  Also Robert who died young.  The place designed for the family".
