Up
early, and off for Rosebery to visit St. Joseph’s
School, and some local businesses. We then travelled
to Zeehan and met people at the Neighbourhood
Centre, before calling in at the West Coast Pioneers
Museum, which contains an impressive collection of
minerals and crystals, photographic displays and
some locomotives.
There is a feeling of optimism at Zeehan, with some
positive developments in the mining sector. So no
doubt more chapters to be written in the colourful
history of this area. |

Stopped at Derwent Bridge for a wallaby burger at
the Hungry Wombat Restaurant and a visit to ‘The
Wall’ – an extraordinary wood carving, three metres
high, depicting the history and rugged life of
pioneers in the Central Highlands. When finished
‘The Wall’ will stand 100 metres long, and will
undoubtedly be a major tourist attraction for the
region.
Home by night fall. An exhausting trip, but highly
informative and enjoyable. |
