Decisive action was needed to restore certainty to a
range of land use activities in the wake of
December’s Weilangta court ruling.
The decision had the potential to jeopardise the
forestry industry, and others such as agriculture
and energy.
Forestry Tasmania’s appeal of this decision may not
be resolved for a considerable period of time.
In the interim, it is important Tasmania’s valuable
timber industry can function with certainty and the
RFA amendments will enable that.
