In 1993 he
obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies, and
commenced practice as a barrister and solicitor.
Will worked
as a lawyer in Hobart before travelling to England in
1995 where he worked for the Wiltshire County Council as
a prosecutor in child
abuse cases. Will met his future
wife, Nicky, whilst working in England. They returned to
Tasmania in 1997, and Will resumed work at a Hobart law
firm. He also became involved in a number of community
organisations, including as President of the Southern
Football League.
In 2002, Will
was elected Member for Franklin, and was appointed
Deputy Leader of the Opposition.
Will has held
a number of portfolios, including Shadow Minister for
Education, Economic Development, Energy,
Employment,
Antarctic Affairs,
Community Development
and
Liberal Spokesperson for the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Will has also served as a member of various
Parliamentary Committees.
At the State
Election in March 2006, Will received an impressive
personal vote and was appointed Leader of the Tasmanian
Liberal Party.
He is well
known for his widespread involvement in community and
sporting bodies, and is the patron of number of
organisations. He is an active and passionate
representative for the people of Franklin.
Will and
Nicky live at Margate with their two young sons, William
and James and baby daughter, Lily.
Will loves to
spend time at home with his family, and enjoys cooking,
sport, music and travelling.
