PRESENTATION DAY GUIDELINES
CLASS AWARDS

All students in K-2 will receive awards (a “graduation certificate” for Kinder; individual awards for academic, cultural and/or social development for Years 1 and 2). There will be a separate  K-2 end-of-year assembly, due to the seating limitations of the hall.

In Years 3-6, there will be:

 * a Medallion for outstanding academic achievement, with consideration
    given to cultural and social areas.

* achievement awards in English, Mathematics, Science, Human Society and
   its Environment, Creative and Practical Arts, Physical Education / Health /
   Personal Development, Music, Research Skills, Computer, Citizenship,
   Effort and five additional awards as determined by the class teacher.

 * Where there are Composite classes, the Medallion, will be allocated across the grade, irrespective of number of classes in the grade. Other awards will be allocated by the class teacher but be not more than 15 or 50% of the students in each grade.

    A student will be eligible for one class award only each year.

Dux of the School will be known as Outstanding Student of the School, and will be awarded to a student in Year 6 who has consistently achieved outstanding academic outcomes. A combination of norm- and criterion-referenced measures as well as professional judgement, will be used to determine the Outstanding Student, with consideration given to cultural and social areas.  The final decision will have staff consensus.

All other awards i.e. (Sport, Citizenship and the Arts) will be determined after consideration of performance, attitude and any additional material deemed relevant. The decision will have the consensus of staff.
