How many times do we hear the words stop littering. This is becoming a major problem in Australia with people littering wherever they go without caring about the environmental effect. There are a number of groups trying to protect and do the right thing by protecting the environment and animal’s habitats.

One of these groups is Coast Care. They are an organization trying to protect the coastline of Australia. Now they have sent out a message to try and protect the environment a lot more because there is too much pollution around. What they are trying to say is if we don’t stop littering, our beaches will be ruined and many animals will die from the waters being polluted. So next time you take a walk along one of our beautiful beaches like Bondi etc. don’t be too lazy to walk to the bin and put you rubbish in it.

Ian
Kiernan is another Australian trying to get the message across to us by
arranging Clean Up Australia Day and making us aware that the environment
will be effected if we continue to litter. He is educating young people
to get out and support Clean Up Australia Day by even going to schools
and showing the effect of litter. At some schools students are now participating
in cleaning up their school environment. Every little bit of co-operation
is making our world a better place to live in.

Even
the Australian Government has started to do their part in their fight against
pollution. Now if you are caught littering, you will be fined. Hopefully
with the money raised from the fines we will use them to help a good cause
fighting pollution.

Australian households are starting to recycle their rubbish by using the recycle bins provided by the Councils and cutting down on the landfill problem. Did you know that all the parks, take North Ryde park for example, underneath the ground would be filled with recycled rubbish. Even in shopping centres there are new recycling bins to encourage people to think what they do with their rubbish.
So next
time you are lazing around doing nothing be aware that there are people
out there who need your help desperately. Can you imagine if our wonderful
Great Barrier Reef was ruined? We would be the embarressment of the world.
Here we are with the most beautiful National park in the world and we ruin
it by being lazy and tossing our rubbish away without a care in the world.
I don’t want to be laughed at, do you?
