| In rainforests there are ferns growing on tree trunks and hanging all over the branches. There are birds-nest ferns and elk horns that are attached to the upper parts of larger trees, trying to catch the light. They catch leaves from the taller trees that rot and provide food for the plants. These plants which grow on trees, are called 'epiphytes'. Mosses, lichens and orchids are also rainforest epiphytes. |
