Desert Sheep
by Brittany

Sheep are covered with thick wool.  Sheep have 4 legs and a long tail which is cut off by farmers for protection against disease.

Sheep eat grass, and farmers give them bread to eat for treats.  Sheep are killed for food for humans to eat.

Sheep have babies that are born alive and the mother looks after the babies at the farm.  Most sheep live in farms.  Some live freely.

Sheep were first bred and tamed 11 000 years ago.  Sheep live as long as 20 years.

More than 800 breeds of domesticated sheep have been developed.  The breeds are found from the desert to the tropical lands.
