Click for sound	What does each land use activity involve? Just building a house has a major impact on the environment.  1. Clear the land of trees and grass 2. Lay foundations 3. Bring in building materials including concrete 4. Lay pipes for sewage and drainage 5. Build house  6. Build swimming pool 7. Plant garden This results in -  - Exposed soil washes away during rain - erosion - Foundations and pool cover ground - fewer places for stormwater to escape - Pipes take some storm water - less water going into soil - Fewer mature trees
So humans use land.  What about the waterways?
