Dear Mum and Dad,
We just arrived  at Botany Bay on the Friendship.  I met a good friend Maria Thompson.  She has been with me ever since I've been here.  She has looked after me.  On June 3rd, we stopped at the Canary Islands.  We loaded fresh fruit and vegetables and livestock for meat.

On August 5th, we arrived in Rio de Janiro.  We had to repair the sails.  We have hard beds.  Maria Thompson is on the bottoom bed.  We play good games like bed tippy and cards.  When we were really unhappy one day, we met a cat called Mary.  She was cute, and made us feel better.  7 people have died.  1 went overboard.  Wee drips on me while I sleep.  It is disgusting.  The toilets are bad, but I suppose that's better than nothing.

I really miss you Mum and Dad and my dear husband.  We have one place to go until we stop forever - Table Bay.   I'll tell you Mum and Dad when we arrive.
