Twelve Man's Morris

A variation on the game of Nine Man's Morris is Twelve Man's Morris. As the name suggests, this is played with twelve pieces each, rather than nine. The board is also slightly different, having diagonal lines marked as well as perpendicular ones.

The rules of Twelve Mans' Morris are essentially the same as those of Nine Man's Morris, except that diagonals are permitted. Pieces may move along diagonal lines (still only one space at a time) and rows of three may be formed along diagonals.

In Twelve Man's Morris, it is possible to fill all 24 spaces on the board with pieces, not allowing any piece to move. In this case, the game is a stalemate, but experienced players soon learn not to let this happen.
