Rob
I work for the the Australian government as a project officer in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.  Currently, I am involved mainly in the administration of the Natural Heritage Trust and the National Landcare Program.  My specific tasks are to: oversee the establishment and the continual updating of web sites for these two government initiatives; establish and organise a web site for the Division in which I work; organise contributions by my department to the Guidelines for applicants to the Natural Heritage Trust programs; and any other tasks that are allocated to me.

I have been doing this type of job for about 2 years and while it is not the most exciting job in the world, it is reasonably interesting and it pays the bills.  I would much prefer to be working out in the open air than in an office, but not in Canberra in the winter.  If you are interested you can visit the web sites I administer, but be warned - they are designed to get information across, not for entertainment!  They are at www.landcare.gov.au  and ww.nht.gov.au.  Of course if you are interested in repairing, protecting and preserving the scarce and vulnerable resources of the earth, please take some time to learn about landcare.

I have been in this particular part of this Department for about 9 years doing similar program administration duties.  Before that I was for ten years a field officer with Australia's government economic advisory organisation (ABARE).  In the 1970's I looked after the family farm while studying for my tertiary qualifications.  When I left school in 1972 I worked on farms, as a builder and as a landscaper.

Noline
Nole has been a primary (elementary) school teacher since 19.... oops!  She has taught at various schools around Canberra and is an executive teacher at Gordon Primary School.
