LUNAR ECLIPSE TIME

for 1997 September 16-17

HOW TO FIND YOUR TIME FOR THIS ECLIPSE

If East of Greenwich, then your time zone is positive. Just add your time zone value to the UT times given to find the local time for the start of this eclipse. For example if on the East coast of Australia your time zone is + 10 hours which gives the eclipse first contact at 17h 08m + 10h = 27h 08m OR 3h 08m AM on Wednesday morning 1997 September 17.

If West of Greenwich then DEDUCT your time zone (say 2 hours) from the Universal Time (UT) for first contact, here 17h 08m 00s to get 15h 08m 00s on Tuesday September 16, or at 3h 08m 00s PM local time, when the sun will be up so you won't see this eclipse.

IT'S AS EASY AS THAT

If you do not know your time zone just look at the map provided OR send yourself an e-mail message, its right at the top after the date of your message.

There will be total lunar eclipse visible in Africa, Russia and India, on TUESDAY evening 1997 September 16 and in Asia, Japan and Australasia on WEDNESDAY morning 1997 September 17.
