For example if on the East coast of Australia your time zone is + 10 hours which gives the eclipse first contact at 17h 08m + 10h = 27h 08m OR 3h 08m AM on Wednesday morning 1997 September 17.
If West of Greenwich then DEDUCT your time zone (say 2 hours) from the Universal Time (UT) for first contact, here 17h 08m 00s to get 15h 08m 00s on Tuesday September 16, or at 3h 08m 00s PM local time, when the sun will be up so you won't see this eclipse.
