Total Solar Eclipse 2006 March 29

Ship cruise south of Rhodes

A cruise of the Aegean Sea from Piraeus, the Port of Athens to the south of Rhodes This looks promising for the observation of Baily's Beads and of course the total solar eclipse.


The ship will cruise to 34o52.8' N, 28o 36.6' E for a totality of 3m 56s, the circumstances at this location are shown below:

A video record was made during the complete eclipse, here is one image during totality:

 


The equipment used was a Panasonic video camera with remote control for zoom, still capture and video recording.

A rotateable solar filter was used before and after totality, the system was mounted on a small tripod with a counterweight, projection telescope with a shaded screen and a removable stereo microphone.
