Kane, a son of Shannon, was bred by Joy McGookin of Lubrabend Kennels. He was one year old when imported to New Zealand. Kane was joint owned by Mr C. Barr and was a much-loved pet of his family.

Kane was a late maturer: John nicknamed him "the Wimp" because even after a year he didn't cock his leg. That issue was firmly resolved in Kane's favour. The first time he was ever seen to cock his leg was at a dog show; where he did it with great deliberation right against John's shoulder while John was lazing in the grass!

Kane competed unsuccessfully against his father until about the end of Junior Class, then, took the eight Challenges he needed for his Title, and a number of Group wins, very quickly. While in Intermediate he won a Best in Show (Specialist) under English Judge Margaret Searle.

Kane sired two Champions, one for Edenmist, and, one for Barbara Hearn who campaigned him for some time in the South Island.

He was a lovely dog with a lovely nature and style. His diamond shaped blaze made him a real standout in the crowd.
