Elvis was not only a successful sire and show dog but also a well travelled character. He had several homes during his show career. We left him with Barbara Hodson, Riabel Kennels, when we left for Australia. Barbara handled Elvis to his NZ title, and tolerated his antics which included tasselating her tablecloths, bolting with her underclothes while she was in the shower and commandeering the kitchen table to get a better view out of the window.
After a stay in Canberra Elvis took up residence in Melbourne before moving to Perth where he was campaigned by Kashandra Watson, Tiakana Kennels. Kashandra finished off his Australian title with a Reserve in Show (All Breeds) along the way.
Back in New Zealand the tension of having two stud dogs got too much and Elvis went to a pet home from which he can sometimes be seen pompously exiting in a vintage motor car that even the kids aren't allowed to ride in. He came out of retirement in 1997 to win Best Dog as a Veteran at our Central Shetland Sheepdog Club Championship Show under Rosemary Marshall (UK).
Elvis sired nine champions, the most noted being Riabel Son of a Gun. Elvis made himself at home everywhere he went and was fondly appreciated for his lovable, outgoing nature.
