Tassie Cloggers

The only clogging club in Tasmania was started in 1998 by Delphine Sommerfeldt after attending the National Square Dance Convention in Launceston, Tasmania,  where clogging was held in a separate hall. Before they found their own hall in Hobart, they used to practise in Del's kitchen, where the fridge became a handy support when learning the Charleston!

The hall they now dance in was formerly St Mark's Chapel of Ease in Bellerive, consecrated on
1 June 1852.  The Chapel fell into disrepair until the First Bellerive Scout's came along and fixed it up - it was reopened and the plaque unveiled by Lord Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Reverend R E Davies, on
6 October 1973. For those cricket fans, Bellerive Cricket Ground is on the next corner.

The Tassie Cloggers, as they named themselves, are low in number but high in enthusiasm. Their members are:

Del Sommerfeldt

Ellen Oakley

Gail Nutting

Heather Smith

Madison Evans

Stevie Evans

Lyn Maczuga

Cheryl

Zita

You'll find some photos below of the Hall and a few of the members....
