She has been Co-President and Co/Vice President of the Missouri Clogging Council (MCC). Missy has taught at National and International workshops and conventions. Through her clogging she has represented the United States overseas six times. First, in 1985, on a Goodwill Ambassador tour of Spain and Portugal. Second, in 1990, for a folk festival in Italy, to benefit UNICEF. Third, in 1994, Missy and fifteen members of the Klogghopper team traveled to Russia to perform. The team was part of an international exchange between Silver Dollar City (Branson, MO) and the International Union of Culture, Tourism and Sports (Moscow, Russia). Fourth, in June of 1997 Missy and the Klogghoppers also had the honor of performing at the Austrian Alps Performing Arts Festival throughout Austria. Fifth, in October 1998, Missy taught and judged in the Czech Republic for the Country Dance and Folk Festival in Prague. Sixth, in April 2000, Missy was selected as one of two U.S. instructors to teach at the 5th Annual National Australian Clogging Association Convention in Canberra, Australia. In August of 2006, she will return to Australia to teach again for the Australian National Clogging Convention on the island of Tasmania.
Missy is certified as a clogging instructor (CCI) and NCHC (National Clogging and Hoedown Championships) judge and NCHC Rules Official. She was the Executive Director of the American Royal Barbecue Clogging Classic competition, held in Kansas City, for nine years. She currently organizes an annual workshop, called The City Slicker Stomp and an annual competition, called The America’s Heartland Clogging Championships, both in the Kansas City, MO area. In 2002, Missy was presented with an award for her 15 years of teaching and being on staff for the National C.L.O.G. Convention.
Her ability in choreography has gained national and international recognition. In 1993, Missy was selected as the clogging choreographer for the Silver Dollar City evening show in Branson, MO. She has choreographed award-winning competition routines. Missy’s best know workshop routine is “I’m Gonna Be 500 Miles,” which is on the National Dance List. The USA National Dance/Song List was a list she organized after her first visit to Australia…where she experienced how well the Australian National Dance List works there. Missy is married to Bill Shinoski and has a daughter, Lauren, who was born in March of 2003. Besides clogging, Missy lives in Kansas City, Missouri where she is currently raising her daughter along with some part-time work as a scenic artist’s assistant at the KC Repertory Theatre. She enjoys teaching and looks forward to sharing her love of clogging with you.
