The idea of such an event is to give the players (who have either already represented Australia overseas, or will potentially do so at some stage) a chance to compete in a strong round robin tournament without having to find the money and time to travel overseas.

It also gives them a tournament where they will play 9 tough games, rather than the usual weekend event, where most rounds are mismatches apart from 2 or 3 towards the end of the event.
