Dryandra Dulcimer
American Style Dulcimer
A versatile instrument which is very easy to play. It's range is 3 octaves from c to d3, and is fully chromatic from f# to d3, the range covered by most treble instruments. The interval across the treble bridge is a major fifth, and a fifth between the treble and adjacent bass strings. This makes the keys of D, G, C, and F major particularly accessible. The strings are steel down to g, and wound below that, and all courses are triple strung. This is the instrument for which my book and cassette tutor, Getting Started is designed. A fully professional instrument.

Washington Model
A lighter weight version of the American style dulcimer. This is made possible by providing two strings per course, thus reducing tension on the case. It is provided in fully chromatic configuration above low f#, and the range is c-d3. An ideal travelling or busker's instrument. With the use of King Billy Pine for the soundboard, a fine resonance is obtained. This enables you to gain a further octave to d4, chromatically. Remarkable.

Range is g-d3.

Dulcimer after Smith of London
A large diatonic instrument with strings tuned to a typical English system. Range is 3 octaves B-b3. Treble courses have 4 strings per course, the bass courses are triple strung. The bass strings are tuned an octave below the adjacent treble strings. This system favours the keys of A, D, and G major and their related minor keys. The long string length of this instrument ensures a fine tone. It is a close copy of an instrument brought to Australia early this century. Price: $1950
