This is the prototype Commodore coupe that Holden teased the Australian Motoring world at the Sydney International Motor show. The thing looks absolutely superb in the flesh, and with it's Corvette LS1 motor under the bonnet it would surely get up and go. Bring it on.
Here is a VT Commodore Group A racer. I guess for those from a far, v* Supercars or as they were known as Group A racers is Australia's own national racers, as NASCAR is to the U.S.A.
Like NASCAR, vehicles are based on factory made cars, however at the moment there are only two makes Holden and Ford competing (No other manufacturer makes a Family sized 5.0L V8. These things weigh about 1300 kgs (2900 lb) and produce over 600 bhp. They race throughout the year at various circuit tracks and end with the grand finale 1000km street circuit endurance race at the small town of Bathurst.

Here is a CSV Commodore doing it's stuff. Corsa has just started releasing supercharged 5.7L versions of the top of the range model which looks similar tot he Commodore above. These mongrel Commodores however are producing just over 400kw (536bhp) at the flywheel. Ouch. Expect quarter mile times in the low 12's (remember these luxury ridden family cars weigh over 1700kg (3750 lb). About time some serious cars are produce here.
To finish off, here is a collection of photos of some of the cars that made Australia's performance car history.
