The   first   weekend    after    Xmas    sees   the   annual SummerNats  Car  Festival,   held  at  Exhibition Park in Canberra,   the  Nation's  Capital.     The   event  attracts the  hottest  street  machines from around the country and over 100,000 people.   The event is a four day party and car show with endless  cruising,  show 'n' shine,  Dyno'd horsepower competitions,  Go  to Whoa and the ultimate 'burnout' competition.  Summernats 12, 1998/99  saw the Events 12th showing.

The SummerNats has so many aspects that I enjoy to the max. The burnouts are amazing, a must see. The Top 80 show on Friday night is full of quality, so is the Show 'n' Shine on Saturday. The other events, 'The  Go  to  Whoa (Vehicles start from a line and accelerate 100m before attempting to brake to a dead stop on another line. It's timed and if you don't stop on the line then your time doesn't count),  the grass events, Horsepower  Heroes (On site Dyno Comp to test how much horses you say you have)  ar e great fun, but I must admit I enjoy nothing more than sitting around sinking   beers   with  friends  watching   the  cars cruise constantly around the huge cruise track.
