An Additional Benefit of the EPC Approach

The above strategies were implemented, to varying degrees, across all the sites, and are good examples of the opportunities likely to be found at many similar facilities. In addition to these general techniques one unusual strategy was implemented.  This involved the installation of a modern sterilising unit at the Orange Base Hospital. This had been included as a capital offset item, providing the same financial benefit (in terms of reducing capital outlays) as discussed above for upgrading HVAC plant and equipment. A much overlooked benefit of EPC, is that energy and other cost savings can be used to pay for capital items that aren’t energy consuming.
